Curriculum

On the basis of high-level implementation of the national curriculum standards, Hangzhou School Affiliated to SISU has introduced the affiliated course system of Shanghai International Studies University; and based on the 15-year schooling system, the curriculum is designed to run through the whole learning process of the students. Hangzhou School Affiliated to SISU has created a three-level and five-dimensional curriculum system centering around “knowledge, capacity and talent”, with the national curriculum as the first level, the school-based advanced curriculum as the second, and the talent curriculum tailored the the special gifts of each student as the third. In the five dimensions of “science and technology & innovation, character and practice, sports and health, art and aesthetics, language and thinking”, more than 100 superb “advanced courses” and “talent courses” are available in the second and third level curriculum.

Kindergarten

Guide the children in the exploration of nature, participation in the society and deep appreciation of life

Based on the Complete Activity Curriculum for Kindergarten Children issued by Zhejiang Province, and integrated with the Guideline to the Learning and Development of Children Aged 3-6, the Kindergarten School of Hangzhou School Affiliated to SISU has introduced Reggio’s teaching concept and program teaching model, and has brought up the A-plus method: Accompany, Attend, Awaken”, which means to take nature, society and life as the basis of the curriculum, include social learning, social sentiments, language learning, artistic edification, sports and health as well as other content, and carry out a whole set of courses for children, thereby guiding the children in the exploration of nature, participation in the society and deep appreciation of life.

The Elementary School

With the educational goal of cultivating “high-level, high-quality and interdisciplinary international preparatory talents proficient in foreign languages, and excellent in arts and sciences” as the basis, the Elementary School of Hangzhou School Affiliated to SISU adheres to the education concept of “awakening talents”, and has constructed the curriculum system of the school aiming at the core attainments of the students by giving full play to their personal talents in the comprehensive application of knowledge, ability and character. The high-quality implementation of the national basic curriculum has been achieved by relying on the creation of the effective, innovative and characteristic “integration & thinking classroom” of Hangzhou School Affiliated to SISU; the extension courses of the school is characterized by hierarchical advancement and, aiming at the realization of talents, is implemented at a high level in nearly 100 courses which center around five categories of language and thinking, art and aesthetics, sports and health, character and practice, and science and technology & innovation.

The Junior School

Talent awakening and scientific cultivation

Abiding by the curriculum concept of “talent awakening and scientific cultivation”, the Junior School of Hangzhou School Affiliated to SISU has opened up three curriculum paths: high-quality implementation of the basic curriculum stipulated by the state, the school-based advanced curriculum for the promotion of talent development of individuals, and the Adversity Quotient courses to enhance the development of underlying attainments. The curriculum implementation pattern is guided by the three major modules of “inquire, explore and debate” big-unit and big-concept integrated teaching, whole-immersion integrated general reading, and general sports integrated with cultivation of character and spirit, thereby resulting in the systematic and all-round student evaluation system and home-school service model.

National Senior School

“SISU Elite Class 2022”

The domestic part of the Senior School of Hangzhou School Affiliated to SISU will focus on the cultivation of “SISU Elite Class 2022”, which is a “three-year multi-step cultivation plan” co-created with elaborate efforts by the school, SISU and Shanghai Foreign Language School Affiliated to SISU. The one-to-one tutor system, designed for students who aspire to enter famous universities in China, allows the high school students to be able to, during the limited three years of learning, promote their comprehensive ability in a scientific and effective way and in full consideration for their personality and talent development.

Localization of integrated courses and integration of local courses
